Funding options for MBA in Kerala

MBA in Kerala is a dream of many out there. The moment you get your acceptance letter for pursuing MBA in Cochin, the question which pours worries over the head is the arrangement of finance for pursuing the same course. Have a look at the following funding options through which you can fund your MBA:

     Q     Scholarships
The scholarships are one of the greatest source of funding the cost of pursuing MBA. There may be a case that you need to submit a separate application for availing the benefit of your scholarship in your fee structure. There are a number of scholarships given by both the State and the Central Government. So, you need to work hard so that the benefit of the scholarship is with you.

     Q     Sponsorships
There are a number of companies which offer company sponsorships to the students who are pursuing MBA. The word of caution here is that you need to read the document very carefully, before accepting the offer as there may be the case that these companies may bind the prospective students with the clause of it being compulsory for the students to join their company once they complete the course. Breaking such contract at a later stage may bring loads of trouble for you.

     Q     Savings
Savings though belong purely to you, but there always come little more precautions when you wish to touch that part of your bank balance which you have saved for certain unforeseen events. Also, if you have maintained certain deposits, you need to break them and fund for your education.

     Q     Loans
There is no dearth of availability of education loans these days. You simply need to visit a bank, give your documents which include the prospectus of the college where the banker can get the course details as well as fee details. The applicant needs to pay back the loan once the course comes to an end and he/she starts earning, till then there is no requirement to pay the principal or interest.

How MBA Can Enhance Your Entrepreneurial Skills

It is a common belief that entrepreneurial skills cannot be taught to individuals unless they have some basic inclination towards the same. Earning an MBA degree has always been considered as a great means of boosting the career prospective of professionals from diverse industries. In the recent years, the importance of an MBA degree has increased even further with most young entrepreneurs preferring In fact there are several MBA colleges in Kerala, where a large number of entrepreneurs are pursuing MBA courses with different specializations. The young entrepreneurs believe that pursuing the course would help enhance their inherent analytical skills and decision making ability to help them take their ventures to greater heights of success.

The MBA degree helps in instilling the right knowledge and aptitude in an aspiring entrepreneur that would enable him in the consistent growth of his business. An appropriate MBA course undertaken from a good and reputed institute, trains the aspiring businessmen about key aspects such as business planning, generating funds and finances, managing the expenses and also in the overall function of the business in a smooth and hassle free manner.  In addition, degree familiarizes the students with the importance of having a creative bend of mind and also the ability to recognize and take advantage of the same. Most professional MBA colleges in Kerala also focus of enhancing the leadership skills of their students which can prove extremely helpful for them to succeed as efficient entrepreneurs.

Ensuring success in the highly competitive business environment in the modern times is not an easy task. For this, you need to be equipped with the right attitude, professional knowledge and the ability to gauge market trends in addition to having that basic knack for entrepreneurship. An MBA degree helps to polish your inherent skills and pave the way for you to attain success as an entrepreneur. It helps you to use your knowledge and abilities as a combined weapon for not only beating competition but also achieve your business goals.

“No journey in life is completely smooth; it all depends on how quickly you adapt to the rough tide and win the race,” says Sarath, an SCMS Cochin student talking about his academic journey with the institute. The young boy from Thrissur admits that he found the going tough initially after he joined the B School that he had heard a lot about. Eventually, with his perseverance and with support from the institute, he managed to turn things around for himself. So much so, that now he’s on a new high after having bagged placement with Madura Fashion and Lifestyle.

Sarath will be going through a six-month training program with the company after which he has brilliant opportunities to widen his horizons. It’s something he is obviously thrilled about as he says, “There is tremendous opportunity to learn and grow with the company. I would like to gain good knowledge about retailing, and make a good impression at my work place. Only then will I be able to move up the ladder in the industry, which is what I want. I would also boost my marketing skills while I am at it.”

SCMS Cochin alumnus Shisir Jena launches Art Godaam and turns business into an art form

For Shisir Jena, an SCMS Cochin alumnus of the batch of 2008, the year 2013 started with a bang. On the 1st of January, he started his ambitious venture, Art Godaam. According to Shisir, it stemmed from his love for arts and craft, and the need to find a viable market place for talented artists all over the country. More over being born in a family full of artists and being trained in Pattachitra (traditional paintings of Orissa) from Guru Kalamani Rabindranath Sahoo, a well know Pattachitra artist of Odisha, Shisir could not say “no” to his heart calling. Clearly, here is a business venture that has its heart in the right place and it has taken great strides already in the short time since its inception.

“SCMS helped me compete with the best, nationally and internationally” says alumnus Avinash Singh Bhambra

He has conducted training sessions in 21 states of India and he attributes this ability to deal with cultural diversity to his alma mater, SCMS Cochin School of Business. “The diversity in SCMS helped me a lot in developing and practicing good interpersonal behavioral skills. As a result, I have been able to train across the length and breadth of India”, says Avinash Singh Bhambra, who is working as Manager HR with Zuari Agro Chemicals, based at Goa. He belongs to one the earliest batches of SCMS and has made a successful, although challenging, journey working with several industries.
