PGDM Workshop in Kerala
PGDM Workshop in Kerala
There is a misconception amongst many that young students pursue their management programs only because they want to land cushy, well paid jobs. Another misconception is that most of the budding entrepreneurs are born with a silver spoon in their mouths and have the resources to follow their dreams. That’s why people are surprised to find that several management students who have done their Full Time PGDM get involved with startups or make sure they work on their own entrepreneurial ventures. In fact, their PGDM helps them immensely in this regard.

There are many professionals who have graduated from the best MBA Colleges In India and gone on to gain experience in the corporate world. But they have never lost sight of their entrepreneurial dreams, which they nurtured during their academic years. So how does a PGDM program actually help create future entrepreneurs? What are the benefits you can get as an aspiring entrepreneur while you follow your PGDM program?

  • Well, for starters, whether you do your PGDM In Kerala or anywhere else in the country, the fact remains that your curriculum is often updated in keeping with the industry requirements. Hence you understand the best industry practices and different concepts, which will hold you in your entrepreneurial journey.
  • Another advantage of following a PGDM program is the hands on experience you get. Whether it’s during the Summer Internship program or while organizing college fests, events etc, you understand the practical applications of the concepts you have learned. This hand on deck approach is vital for future entrepreneurs.
  • Top MBA Colleges In India not only focus on creating top professionals but leaders of the future as well. The emphasis is on moulding job makers and it’s seen in several initiatives that these institutes take. If you want to pursue your entrepreneurial goals then you are better off choosing an institute that hones these skills amongst students.
  • One of the biggest advantages of doing your PGDM is that you get to learn from the best minds in the business. Renowned faculty members are known for their interesting teaching methods that create a dynamic learning environment in the classroom. Entrepreneurial dreams of students are encouraged and nurtured in such an environment.
  • As an aspiring entrepreneur you want to know and learn from the experiences of those who have been there and done that. It’s difficult to get that access to well-achieved entrepreneurs in real life, but management institutes have them over for seminars and interaction sessions. That’s a huge learning experience for all future entrepreneurs.
Becoming an entrepreneur is not as much about privilege as it is about having the drive and the push in the right direction. Top MBA Colleges In India can do just that for you.

Go Getter survey list of 2013- 2014 includes some fresh names from the dynamic and changing B-school scenario of India

MBA Colleges in Kerala

The education sector in India has grown tenfold in the last decade. And with growth has come competition and confusion. Aspirants face endless struggles to understand which institute offers them the best road to academic success and employability. While an MBA from IIM still holds immense value, many brands have emerged with not only strong names but also proven talents. In such a competitive environment, The Go-Getter and collegecampus2corporate.com have released their 2013-2014 survey results for the top B-schools in the country. All B-schools were invited to participate in the survey and over 150 institutes expressed interest to be a part of this exercise.

The All India B-School survey 2014 consists of a participatory and perceptual survey of various stakeholders in management education system. A structured questionnaire was sent to 150+ B-Schools across India. They were short-listed by recognizing the last two years’ rankings done by Go-Getter magazine and by identifying institutions that have emerged in the recent past.  The entry criterion of a minimum of two batches passed out by 2013 was kept in order to filter the newly established institutes. Finally, 65 institutes were ranked based on the following parameters: infrastructure, industry interface, placement, entrepreneurship, global exposure, faculty, research and writing, curriculum and pedagogy and so on. Based on the survey, all the B-Schools were ranked under SUPER - LEAGUE, A+++, A++, A+, B+++, B++ and B+ categories.

This year the survey continued to show that although IIMs around the country still rule the roost, fresh names have joined the prestigious list. Few of them are SCMS Cochin, Accurate Institute of Management & Technology, Institute of Management Studies, to name a few. The school has been a trendsetter in management education since 1976 and has managed to develop remarkable innovations in its course curriculum. It is important for a B-school to have strong industry interface, not only in terms of placement, but also from the perspective of creating a syllabi that is industry-ready. The survey revealed a huge gap between top institutes like SCMS-Cochin and other institutes when it comes to strengths like consultancy services, faculty to student ratio and strong pedagogy. Faculty industry experience is another strong characteristic of institutes that were ranked amidst the top.

A strong research program needs to fully develop in order to keep curriculums up to date and in line with changing trends in education and business. There is a lot of important research being done at B-schools across India. Many of which earned a top placement in the survey. Research also enables an institute to bring forth its faculty strength in national as well as international domain.

SCMS-Cochin earned a high ranking for its dynamic business school pedagogy. Focusing on problem solving in various business functions, the institute’s pedagogy includes case studies of teaching, group research projects and real-world simulations. This provides a well-rounded, real-world applicable business education. The institute was also one of the new entrants in the Super League list of six B-schools, placing it amongst the top B-schools in the country.

While entering the final leg of 2014 placements, SCMS Cochin’s campus is full of good news

Ever since its inception in 1992, SCMS has prided itself on its student placement figures. Counted as one of the top MBA colleges in Kerala, SCMS has consistently been producing future managers who are recruited by leading national and international organizations. So far this year, SCMS has seen 45+ companies on campus and the recruitment is still continuing in full-swing.

Amidst the MBA colleges in Kerala, SCMS stands out for its year-on-year stable performance. This is validated by the 23 companies that have come back to the campus and the 19 new companies visiting SCMS already in 2014 for hiring the fresh graduates of Class 2014. These include Deloitte Consulting India Pvt. Ltd., Madura Fashion & Lifestyle, B Braun Medical India Pvt. Ltd., Sutherland Global Services, CMA CGM Shared Services India Pvt. Ltd., TCS, Colgate Palmolive, HCL Infosystems, Whirlpool of India Ltd., KPMG, ITC Ltd., Tata Teleservices, and Allianz Cornhill.

Placement is a distinctly strategized and executed vertical at SCMS, with industry interaction carefully built and nurtured by placement cells and officers in all major cities of the country. Internally, SCMS faculty members and external experts meet individually with the students and offer workshops and programmes in subjects, such as the tailored job search, preparation for job interviews and salary negotiations. They also oversee and evaluate mock interviews. However, the institute has stringent placement criteria and the students come to realize that in today’s competitive world, it is likely that only the top candidates get placed. That is how they learn to prepare themselves tight from the beginning.  This is supported by Unnikrishnan P S from 2011-13 batch, who has been placed with HDFC Bank: “In the current fluctuating and challenging environment, it pays to equip yourself with knowledge and the experience offered at SCMS- Cochin. The academic rigour here equips you sufficiently well to stand out from the rest. ” One reason that SCMS is rated as a top MBA college in Kerala is its state-of-the-art infrastructure. Any student who fully takes advantage of the institute’s training, in addition to the range of facilities, at SCMS-COCHIN with a strong commitment to hard work stands an excellent chance of earning a good placement. The institute stands committed to deliver the best facilities and skills set for all students to get placed. S. Prabaharan of 2011-2013 batch says, “This course, which is designed in consultation with the current industry trends, makes us job ready and gives us a finishing school exposure.”

Students are encouraged to choose and build their own career paths. This year, marketing streams emerged as the strongest in terms of placement. A total of 59 students from a batch of 169 have been placed as of early April; these placements carry an average salary of 4 lakhs per annum. The highest salary offered so far during this year has been 6.5 lakhs per annum. Camaraderie and discipline on the campus help students find their strengths and help them excel in life. “SCMS-Cochin has something that most B-schools today do not have – Discipline,” says Deepjyoti Das. “It has been the single most important factor that has helped me rises in my organization,” he adds further.

SCMS pushes this journey of excellence forward by opening admissions to the 2014-16 Batch. Management aspirants from all over the country may choose from five full-time PGDM programmes that have been especially designed to meet the individual needs of students. The admissions process has been simplified and there are multiple centres for GDPI selection across India. The forms have also been made available online, as well as on campus, and now payments can also be made in multiple modes, including online.
